Cowdogs, global warming giveth and taketh away - more riding and less skiing. We are looking for highs in the mid 50s and starting temps in the high 40s on Wednesday, January 14. The high point of this ride is sub 4000' and the warm day before has hopefully cleared any residual snow. Note, I've been known to be optimistic.

A very scenic ride with many viewpoints. The ride goes by historical homesteads established in the 1880s (Cyrus and McCoin) with well preserved orchards. The roads are typically in good shape and consist of 4 miles paved, 18 miles of gravel. There is a fun but steep, chunky descent after the orchards. Cowdog nirvana. I've taken the liberty to experiment with the standard route, with you being the test subjects.

To get to the start, drive north on Hwy 97 past Terrebonne, drive for another 11 miles on Hwy 97 and look for the signs for Haystack Lake. Turn right on Jericho Ln, drive another mile and turn right on Haystack Dr. The first paved road on the left will be the North Fishing Pier Day Use Area which ends in a parking area with a clean vault toilet. It takes around 45 minutes to get to the start from Bend. Please arrive early enough for a 11:00 start.
