One more gravel ride before the atmospheric river. This is a rare afternoon ride, starting at 1:30 sharp on Monday. Temps in the high 40s, low 50s. Ride starts just after Tumalo Reservoir Rd turns to gravel. Cross a short bridge, drive 100 yds, and the gravel parking area is on the left.

Plainview is the name of an unincorporated community just outside of Sisters that has a plain view of a whole lot of big mountains. And that is where you are headed on this ride.

This ride is close to Bend, snow free most of the winter, no big climbs to overheat on and no big descents to get cold on …. and it has some fantastic views! The Sisters. Mt Washington. Mt Jefferson. Black Butte. Rides often become a gabfest because the gravel roads are super wide.

The route and surface is straightforward. Head northwest towards Sisters on the old Brooks-Scanlon logging road, take a right on a small gravel road that connects to the Planview area, and then take Sisemore road back to Tumalo Reservoir.

  • Loop: 23 miles / 800 ft gain
  • Surface: ~ 90% gravel, 10% paved
  • Approx ride time: 2 hours
  • Location: Tumalo, OR
