Join us for one of our favorite adventures we ride every year. Mitchell is nestled in the John Day River Region. Spectacular scenery, quiet roads and challenging climbs awaits on our annual trip East. Expect a little under 2 hr. drive to Mitchell City Park. Expect cooler temps for our start, but warming up as the day progresses.
Joe Gilles and Brian Staiger will act as your SAG hosts. We will have a vehicle that will store a pack for each rider. We will plan on stopping our vehicle every 15-20 miles or at the top of each of our climbs. This will allow you to shed or load on layers, refuel and rehydrate. We will also have a bike rack if you need to take some time out of the saddle. The club will have some ice cold beverages and PB&J sandwiches in the SAG vehicle. We will stop at the Service Creek Resort on the John Day River for a break at 40 miles into our adventure.
Plan on rehashing the ride at Tiger Town Brewing Co. in Mitchell's one street town. There are plenty of camping, hostel, hotel, and Inn options for those that would like to arrive on Tuesday night or lengthen the stay Wednesday evening. The John Day Fossil Bed National Monument is a fantastic visit in this beautiful area.
