Madras Agency Plains 55

A beautiful ride up north and best done in Spring or Fall.   We leave from Madras Community Park at 10:00 (50 min drive from Bend), follow the beautiful Madras Mountain Views Scenic Bikeway for part of the way, but take a northerly turn on the way back... which is where the real fun starts. We fly down a long, gradual straightaway, then dive down a series of steep switchbacks to the bottom of Lake Simtustus, which means we then take a series of steep switchbacks back out. From there, it's on to Pelton Damn picnic area for a brief break. 

We meander past Lake Pelton and find our way to the one section of the ride that's a bit less fun: climbing up the Hwy 26 grade out of Warm Springs. When we reach the top, we turn north for a tour through Agency Plains, some of the less visited, but most beautiful areas in our neighborhood. A big clock-wise loop through farmlands and we eventually find our finish back at Madras.
