A very scenic ride with many view points. The ride goes by historical homesteads established in the 1880s (Cyrus and McCoin) with well preserved orchards. The roads are in very good shape and consist of 4.2 miles paved, 3.8 miles double track, and 13.9 miles gravel. The climbing is usually moderate except at the very top for a very short distance (0.2 mile). My gearing is CR 36 and big cog 40, and I never had to step off my bike and walk. I use 700cx50mm tires but 40mm will work as well. Between miles 16 and 20 we will travel on a ridge with a wide view of the cascade from Mt Bachelor to Mt Hood. Then we will ride along an irrigation canal on a double track road almost all the way to our cars.

Please join me on this beautiful ride and I will try not to be too boring when sharing my limited knowledge about the interesting historical homesteads we will encounter. To get to the start, drive north on Hwy 97 past Terrebone and the left turn to Culver, drive for another mile on Hwy 97 and look for the signs for Haystack Lake. Turn right on Jericho Ln, drive another mile and turn right on Haystack Dr. The first paved road on the left will be to the North Fishing Peer Day Use Area which ends in a parking with a clean vault toilet. It takes around 45 minutes to get to the start from Bend. Michel

This is a Fully Vaccinated ride only.

Maximum AQI 100 as measured in Madras will cancel this ride.
