Little Bear Gravel

Ride Classification Leader  GPS My Ride
B&C/22.7/Gravel Michel Bayard                 Link

This is a very moderate ride which climbs for the first 8 miles at a grade of 3 to 4%, when temperatures will still be pleasant. Then it is flat for 3 miles, going along a ridge with beautiful views of the Cascades and surrounding areas. From that point it is all downhill, following Little Bear Creek and going by all settlement buildings.

When I previewed this ride a few weeks ago, the meadows were covered with wild flowers, but I do not think they survived the heat. At mile 17.3 we will be riding on Road 27 again, following Bear Creek all the way to the finish. This is one of the most relaxing and scenic ride I have done in along time, and I hope you will share that experience with me.

Start: Coming from Bend on Neff Rd (which becomes Alfalfa, then Willard, and finally Reservoir Road), stop at the intersection of Reservoir and 27 roads. Turn right on 27 and drive south and then east for exactly 4.3 miles. You will then see a triangular gravel parking area which is the starting point of the ride. It takes about an hour to get to the starting point from Bend. 44°03'38.8"N 120°44'04.6"W

The roads are in excellent shape and I am using 700cx50mm tires, but 700cx40mm will work as well. It is all gravel surface except for 1.6 miles of pavement.

This is a Fully Vaccinated ride only.
