This route is courtesy of Dirty Free Hub, suggested by Sam H. (Thanks to both Sam and the great folks at DFH.) I've not ridden it, but DFH lists it as one of their "5-Star" routes, so I'm game. You can see a nice DFH description of the ride HERE. Join me for the adventure... what can go wrong?

The ride starts at the Head of the Metolius parking area. Meet here ready to ride at 11:00. It's about a 45-minute drive from Bend, so plan accordingly and arrive early. The route is half gravel, with the remainder split between paved and single track. The first 10 miles climbs over 2,000 feet on gravel and single track, so arrived fueled and ready to get right to it. Looks like some rollers after that, then a fast descent back to an extended flat along the Metolius River. The Camp Sherman store is near the end, so plan on a group social visit for a bit when we hit that spot.

We'll keep the pace comfortable, so I expect we'll be on the bike for around 3-1/2 hours. We'll either stay together or regroup regularly. No one will be dropped. I strongly encourage loading the route onto your bike computer or phone... just in case.

Weather forecast looks cool and iffy for Thursday, but hopefully we'll be OK. You should definitely bring a rain jacket to be safe -- and to ward off evil rain clouds.

There is one more ABSOLUTE for this ride: You MUST be FULLY VACCINATED (including 2-weeks past last dose). If you do not meet this requirement, please do not sign up. We will not require masking amongst our group, but you should consider bringing one if you plan on going into the store.
