Cinco de Mayo Gravel Ride
Madras
Weather looks great for the Sisters area this Wednesday. We'll be celebrating Cinco de Mayo from our gravel bikes. This is a slightly shorter version of a route from dirtyfreehub.com. We'll be cutting off the first and last 5 miles, but the rest of Dirty Freehub's description is accurate. The risk/adventure of this route is the possibility of finding snow on the descent from Round Lake (ele 4,400)! There is also a fun singletrack section around Suttle Lake. This is a beautiful area of Central Oregon. Bring a mask if you intend to enter the Camp Sherman store.
10:00 am start from Cold Springs Campground. Please arrive early enough for a 10am departure. From Sisters travel 4.2 miles west on Highway 242 (McKenzie Pass Highway). The restrooms and water might not be available at the campground, but both are available at the Village Green Park in downtown Sisters.
Sounds like a fun adventure! FYI, I ride 700x40 tires.
It's always good to have the route on your Garmin, Wahoo, or phone. Please read the COVID guidelines before joining.
