A nice steady climb followed by a relaxing downhill in the Deschutes National Forest on smooth pavement (and no cracks across the road...!) with a three feet wide clean shoulder. It is very scenic with a view point 10 miles from the start where we can stop and regroup. We will start at 9:00 am from the paved parking on the north east corner of Hwy 97 and Paulina-East Lake Road, which is the first left turn past the entrance of the La Pine State Park (going south). We will climb for 12 miles and then ride down 5.5 miles to East Lake resort where good food and drinks are available. Since we will be riding in the forest there will be very sunny areas followed by shady portions where bikes could be hard to see. I recommend that you have blinking back lights on your bike. There is a booth about 14 miles into the ride where a $5 entry fee is collected from cars, but bicycles are exempt.

This is a moderate C ride (a true C ride 13-15 mph average speed, but not faster) going along well known, well paved road. Let's get a good workout among friends and... let's not try to compete.
