Progressive Wednesday #1

Welcome to Progressive Wednesday rides... the first in a series of weekly rides each Wednesday, each a bit longer than the previous. This week’s ride follows a 16-20 mile route that starts at Tumalo Coffee. From Tumalo, the route crosses Highway 20, climbs Bailey Road and connects with Tumalo Reservoir road and several rural roads, eventually crossing Highway 20 and connecting with Innes Market Road. From there, the route winds its way back to Tumalo on rural roads. There are several route options for this ride, so we can modify the route if we choose to lengthen the ride.

This is a fun, relatively easy ride with has great views of the Cascades. Ideal for the first ride of the year and a good opportunity to check out your bike.

I’m moving the progressive rides to Wednesdays this year. The objective of the progressive rides is to prepare riders for the longer rides like the Tour the De Chutes or the Firecracker 100 by increasing ride length every week. Rides will take place in the Tumalo and China Hat road areas, and other areas outside of Bend/Tumalo, like the Crooked River Canyon, Lake Billy Chinook (Madras Mountain Views), or Sisters areas. These rides are a great way to increase endurance, meet new friends, learn about new ride routes, and enjoy the scenic beauty of rural of Oregon.
