This is a two-day event that includes two long rides in the Strawberry Mountains on well-paved roads, very little traffic, beautiful scenery, and a short ride around the John Day river.

You can arrive on Friday June 7 and stay the 8th and 9th at the Depot RV Park in Prairie City, which has 20 full hookup sites ($20/night) and more than 20 tent+car sites ($16/night) and showers (uses quarters), but no wifi. It's first come, first served, no reservations, but I've never had a problem finding a spot in the past. For those who prefer to stay in a hotel, the Hotel Prairie and Prairie Winkle Inn are good places to stay only half mile from eh Depot RV park where rides start. The Hotel Prairie also has a good restaurant with good food and local beer, if cooking is too much after riding 60 or 70 miles.

On Saturday, we'll ride around Summit Prairie, which is 65 miles and 4,300 feet of climbing. On Sunday (for those who recover quickly), we'll ride to the edge of Summit Prairie, then to John Day, then back to Prairie City via Hwy 26, which has a good bike lane, little traffic, and almost always tailwinds. Sunday's ride is 73.4 miles long with 4,300 feet of climbing. For those preferring a more restful Sunday, you can do a a short ride towards Magone lake, an out and back (but it is a hard climb), and riders can turn around anytime they want.

On both days' rides, there will no water available, so bring AT LEAST two water bottles--or more. I will bring an extra Camelback in case someone runs short, but please be self-sufficient and don't rely on others having extra; the Camelback cache is only for emergencies.
