What cyclist does not like a medium length ride with beautiful scenery on safe roads that are easily accessible from both Bend and Redmond? Quiet roads or very good bike lanes are on the entirety of this forty mile route. Features of the ride include exceptional mountain views on Swalley Road, a portion of the Dry River Canyon Trail in Redmond, and a possible refreshment stop in Tumalo or Eagle Crest. Tweed Road, a road adopted by Central Oregon Wheelers, is also on the route. The grades are modest with Bailey Road being the only notable climb.
Ride Notes: There is currently construction on Obsidian road, which enters Redmond. The road is barricaded, but the dirt portion is only about 50 yards and is generally firm. At the end of Obsidian, a short walk down the stairs returns a rider to the Dry River Canyon Trail.
